From MATTEI to MARCEGAGLIA; The tourist facility was sold to the Marcegaglia Group towards the end of the ‘90s. From 2000 to 2004 the Marcegaglia Group carried out reconstruction, improvement and extension for a total investment amounting to € 11 millions; investments were of the most diverse type: they concerned most of the facility, such as the two hotels, and the construction of the new Villette delle Macine and the Residence del Belvedere.
Considerable efforts were made also from the point of view of business: a facility that during the years had been going into decline was brought back on the market, with sizeable investments on the renewed image and on the absolute reliability of an industrial group that strongly believes in Pugnochiuso.
All this led, in a very short time, to an increase in the number of customers, from a bit more than 60.000 in 2000 to over 100.000 in 2006.
The works that have been carried out led to a reversal of trend, as a result of the skilful management performed by Mrs Emma Marcegaglia.
It should also be pointed out that the reconstruction and the extension of the whole resort are once again attracting reputable tourists, a real reversion to the ancient splendours.
