Gargano inland offers several different destinations, all interesting form the historical, natural and religious points of view, such as Monte S.Angelo and S.Giovanni Rotondo.
Monte Sant’Angelo is a charming medieval town, 800 meters above sea level, where the homonymous sanctuary dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel is placed. The Tomb of Rotari and the Norman-Swabian-Aragonese Castle are of historical interest as well.
S.Giovanni Rotondo is the final destination for many worshippers of the “Friar with the Stigmates”, San Pio di Pietralcina, who was buried here. There are several sacred places that give evidence of the religiousness of this small town looked over by Monte Calvo, Gargano’s highest rise.
